Aquaculture Technicians 

Full-time (37.5 hrs/week) with potential for weekend work

Southern Ocean Mariculture is a land-based abalone aquaculture facility located at Port Fairy, Victoria. At Southern Ocean Mariculture we are a leader in the Australian abalone industry and use industry leading techniques to help us deliver a world class sustainable seafood product that is highly sought after. Port Fairy is located at the western end of the Great Ocean Road and offers a coastal lifestyle with unparallel access to the marine environment.

The role

At Southern Ocean Mariculture we are currently seeking full-time abalone aquaculture technicians to join our team.

As an aquaculture technician you will be responsible for all aspects of abalone processing, this may include:

• Cleaning and feeding abalone tanks
• Abalone grading
• Processing live seafood
• Aid on farm research
• Data entry
• Operating mechanical equipment
• General maintenance

Skills and experience

Knowledge of the aquaculture industry is highly regarded but not essential and people with a keen interest in aquaculture are encouraged to apply. Candidates will need to be physically fit, be able to regularly lift heavy objects and be on your feet for most of the shift. Applicants should also be reliable, have sound communication skills and have a commitment to following procedures to complete tasks. A current driver’s licence is a must.
